If you’re like me and appreciate Christmas music but tire of the incessant droning of the same standards piped into malls, etc. Enter Merry Mixmas, a compliation album of sorts with some well-known remixers taking their best shots at the classics, including “All I Want for Xmas,” “Baby, It’s Cold Outside,” “Let It Snow,” “Have Yourself a Merry Little Xmas,” “Santa Baby,” and more.

None of them are radically transformed, but rather “tweaked” for your listening pleasure. The EMI catalog boasts hundreds of internationally acclaimed artists — who at one time or another released their own Christmas classics – perfectly poised for some remixing in the 21st Century, including Bing Crosby, Nat King Cole, Nancy Wilson, Ella Fitzgerald and Lou Rawls. With that being said, you should buy this album for Billy May’s Rudolph mambo track alone – a fascinating remix of a few favorites into an intriguing beat with course shouts added for effect..

If you’re like me and appreciate some timely Christmas music (after we’ve actually hit December and in small doses) and would like a beat in your , then this is the Christmas CD for you.

You can preview some of the tracks at at the Web site here.

Thanks Greg, this is perfect for putting up the tree with the family. Mum likes the snatches of Bing Crosby and 30′s big band music, Dad likes anything that sounds like Jingle Bells, Ras likes bass, and I like, well, the entire family getting along.

So, years later, this album is a Christmas tradition in my family and has been spread amongst aunts and uncles and friends and a neighbor or two.

Merry Christmas, Mr. Swan, keep up the good work.
