O’Death (with Drakkar Sauna, and Lucy Michelle & The Velvet Lapelles)

O’Death started their set with a bang. Raw overdriven banjo cut the silence and sawed its way into a stomping breakdown that really got the crowd going. Their punky breakdowns mashed with folk style lyrics, as well as Pycior’s intense fiddling, really drove the sound home.
Tracks off their new album Broken Hymns, Limbs and Skin were played with the ferocity of a wild west wagon train raid. Tenacious yukelele picking and all.
The atmosphere was calmed a little with the performance of “Angeline,” but lead singer, Greg Jamie, built things back up to 100% hoedown leading from calm to angrily hopeful lyrics with his vocals on “Home” to finish off the set.
