Review: Sam Sparro Black & Gold EP

samsparro.jpg
Black & Gold EP
Label: Modus Vivendi Music
Release Date: August 21, 2007

Sam Sparro is kind of a big deal…in his own mind, at least. His new EP, Black & Gold, boasts six dance tracks covering 70s soul grooves, 80s freestyle beats and 90s garage.

The PR release on this one reads, “He’s the dance scene shepherd preparing to lead us to sounds and places we long to go.” Hrmm…

We will say the vocoder on the first track, “S.A.M.S.P.A.R.R.O.,” perfectly speaks to the Transformer-loving party geek inside us just waiting to do the robot, yell into the oscillating fan like Optimus Prime and oh yeah, NOT get laid.
