Decemberists break-off group Black Prairie

I’m a bit behind listening to a bunch of music I downloaded last month.

One of them is the debut album by a new group called Black Prairie called Feast of the Hunters’ Moon. It’s formed of three members of the Decemberists and two other Portland acoustic musicians.

The album has several acoustic instrumentals with old-time/bluegrass/gypsy influence and a few vocal tracks, too. It’s good music for summer Sunday drives.

I love it when I discover music like SodaCan's

Stephen Chopek (aka SodaCan) is a musician and artist in Jersey City, NJ. His art, especially his art on paper, is a pop culture milieu.

But the music — the music! SodaCan’s music is a grounded psych-freakout bordering on straightjacket pop.

This is my kind of music right here:

SodaCan : “Me No Dig” (mp3)
