Jesse Brodd sent me this link to some live paintings he painted at the 10,000 Lakes Festival last month, featuring works painted during sets from Widespread Panic, Wilco, Trampled By Turtles and Dave Matthews Band.

10,000 Lakes Festival: A Recovery Retrospective

I’ve had more than a full week to recover now from the . Let me say upfront it was more fun than I’ve had in a long time, with the jam bands, the blue grass and the hippies — oh, sweet Lucy in the Sky with Diamonds, the hippies. In fact this retrospective is a little late because I spent most of last week sulking that I wasn’t drinking beer and listening to music in the sun anymore. But I told Greg I’d write about the frivolity of 10,000 Lakes if he gave me tickets, and I intend to do that.

I just need to clear my mind first with this open letter to Dave Matthews: Dear sir: I know David Byrne; David Byrne is a friend of mine, and you sir are no David Byrne.

Bits and Pieces From Adventures @ 10,000 Lakes Festival 2009

After having stumbled onto a ticket for this year’s 10,000 Lakes Festival (courtesy of Perfect Porridge), I jumped at the convenient option to head out of town for a few days of ridiculousness, sunburn and of course, endless live music. So began my journey to rural Detroit Lakes, MN accompanied by my friends Doug and Norman Penguin – here’s a few bits and pieces from the weekend.
